At the invitation of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, a 16-strong delegation headed by Hassan Omar, Secretary General of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) of Kenya, visited Fuzhou and Zhangzhou from April 16 to 20.
On April 17, Miao Yanhong, Member of the Standing Committee and Head of the Organization Department of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee, held talks with the delegation. Miao highlighted the enduring friendship between China and Kenya and Fujian’s strong growth momentum. She said that Fujian stands ready to work with Kenya to deliver on the important consensus reached between the two heads of state, strengthen collaboration in talent development and personnel training through greater party-to-party exchanges, step up business and infrastructure cooperation, and contribute to a stronger friendship between the people of the two countries.
Omar commended Fujian’s socio-economic progress and expressed readiness to increase inter-party dialogue, draw from China’s development philosophies and experience, and explore practical cooperation in wider areas to deepen China-Kenya comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
In Fuzhou, Secretary Guo Ningning of the CPC Fuzhou Municipal Committee met with the delegation and both sides agreed to strengthen Fuzhou-Mombasa sister city partnership and promote cooperation between Fuzhou and Kenya in multiple fields. The delegation also visited Qiuyan Village, the “Vision 3820” Development Strategy Exhibition, the Party School, and Junmen Community, where they learned about local practices in advancing rural revitalization and community governance, and gained a better understanding of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
In Zhangzhou, the UDA officials visited Gu Wenchang Memorial Hall, and exchanged opinions with local officials and experts on improving Party conduct at a seminar honoring Gu Wenchang’s legacy of clean governance. The trip also took them to Aojiao Village and Guandi Cultural Industrial Park, offering a close look at Fujian’s efforts in preserving cultural heritage and promoting cross-Strait cultural exchanges.
